Senior Investment Analyst
L&G Reinsurance is a Bermuda-based specialist life reinsurer. We are the global reinsurance hub of L&G, a multinational financial services company established in 1836, and we provide life reinsurance solutions to clients in the UK, Europe, US and Canada.
The Investment function is critical to the success of L&G Reinsurance given its focus on asset-intensive reinsurance. The Senior Investment Analyst sits within the Investment team and assists with critical processes such as external manager onboarding, portfolio analytics, capital markets assumption setting and other ad-hoc research projects.
Key accountabilities include:
- Assist with new asset class research, due-diligence, and governance processes.
- Shadow underwrite credit and structured products deals, drafting deal opinions.
- Develop portfolio analytics and asset allocation tools for various asset classes.
- Support ALM model development to quantify balance sheet risks.
- Assist with risk monitoring and management for key balance sheet risks.
- Coordinate with asset managers to source data and monitor markets.
- Prepare reports on portfolio performance, market trends, and investment metrics.
- Maintain documentation and audit trails for investment models and processes.
- Collaborate on new business opportunities and portfolio construction.
- Communicate effectively in writing and presentations at Committee/Board level.
Assist with various tasks and projects as needed. - Develop and maintain collaborative relationships internally and externally.
- Promote L&G Re’s culture of ownership and act as a role model.
- Ensure professional standards, meet business requirements, and maintain records.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant investment experience, ideally with fixed income, derivatives, and alternative assets.
- Passed 2 CFA exams or 7 actuarial exams with progression towards full accreditation.
- Proven experience with technical/quantitative skills for portfolio construction, optimization, ALM, and risk modeling. Prior working knowledge of derivatives for hedging interest rate, inflation, and currency risks.
- Proven ability to review and validate work independently with attention to detail.
Experience in on-boarding investment managers and ongoing performance monitoring. - Strong Bloomberg and Excel skills.
- Knowledge of annuity pricing for individual and bulk purchase annuity business.
Some knowledge of insurance reporting and regulatory frameworks (Solvency II, IFRS, EBS). - Ability to develop professional relationships and manage senior stakeholders.
Strong technical investment and finance skills, and problem-solving. - Highly organized, efficient, and able to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
