As Risk Director, you’ll collaborate closely with the Chief Risk Officer and play a pivotal role in shaping our risk management strategy. You’ll oversee and enhance first line risk management practices, ensuring the identification, management, mitigation, and transparent reporting of L&G Re’s diverse risk profile - including insurance, investment, market, demographic, liquidity, credit, regulatory, legal, operational, and reputational risks.
What you'll be doing
- Championing the ongoing development and implementation of an effective risk management framework, ensuring alignment with Legal & General Group standards.
- Leading second line review and oversight for the US Pension Risk Transfer business, providing clear and constructive challenge to first line proposals within Boards and Committees.
- Fostering a supportive and inclusive risk culture, promoting ownership and collaboration at all levels of the organization.
- Preparing and delivering high-quality management information packs and reports for Boards and Committees, supporting transparent and informed decision-making.
- Maintaining and updating risk appetite documentation and policies, ensuring relevance, compliance, and accessibility for all stakeholders.
Qualifications
Who we're looking for:
- Fully qualified Life Actuary with at least seven years’ experience in pricing annuity business, actuarial reporting, or risk management within life reinsurance.
- Demonstrated expertise in risk management and governance frameworks for re/insurance companies, with strong technical actuarial skills and process design capabilities.
- Skilled communicator—able to present complex information clearly, both in writing and verbally, to support collaborative decision-making.
- Adaptable, analytical, and pragmatic, with a commitment to integrity, inclusion, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with executives, boards, and diverse internal and external stakeholders in a global context.
